I usually use Vox to post personal stuff, and carpeaqua to post nerdery. With the insane schedule I've kept over the past few months, putting updates on either site has been a taxing situation.
It seemed just like yesterday I was watching the Stanley Cup playoffs end with those damn Hurricanes winning the Stanley Cup. I suppose the only saving grace is right winger, Justin Williams.
Last night was the first game of the season for my Nashville Predators, and while I wanted to be there for opening night, work just didn't allow that. Luckily, I decided to subscribe to NHL Center Ice this season so that I could watch as many Predators games as I can this season. Being a fan of such a small market team, it's a rare instance that they are on TV. Tack on the fact that my local cable provider doesn't get Versus, I would be without much hockey until NBC picked up the Saturday package after the football season ends.
Sports Illustrated, The Hockey News and a lot of other publications are predicting that the Predators are going to do really well this season (maybe even win the Western Conference). I certainly hope that is the case, and will make sure to get to as many games as I can this season. I have full intentions of making sure to go apartment shopping on days that there is a home hocke game.
Sidenote: One thing that bugs me about NHL Center Ice is that they keep playing the same NHL Center Ice commercial over and over and over and over and over. Ugh.
Other than the 5 years I spent at Purdue, I've been living in Evansville my entire life. I don't necessarily dislike Evansville, but I don't want to spend my entire life in the same city and state. With that in mind, I am planning on packing up and moving to Nashville, Tennessee in the first part of 2007.
Why Nashville? It has music, culture, is close to home (3 hours) and is something completely new. A lot has to happen in the next 6 months for this to be possible: for one, Second Gear needs to keep growing at the rate it is going so I can afford to live comfortablely. Second, I need to find somewhere to live. Here's my requirements:
- Relatively close to the city. I don't mind the suburbs, but I don't want to be more than 10 minutes from downtown.
- A garage. I need an apartment that has garages. I drive a brand new Lexus. I am not leaving it outside.
- New apartment. I want to live somewhere that was built in the last 5-7 years and hopefully is more upscale than your regular run-of-the-mill apartment.
So if you live in Nashville or have lived there, can you offer me any suggestions on where to look?
